My heart pounded.
Legs trembling,
Eyes blinking,
Stomach turning,
I heard my feet pounding against the track, and the crowd screaming, like background music in a restaurant. All of my thoughts flashed as I ran the last 100 yards. I saw the neon yellow sneakers of the runner in front of me and knew I had to give the last boost out of me. I sprinted harder than I ever could, watching as the runners in front of me seemed shocked, their eyes widened and jaws opened. I felt the ribbon fall against my chest.
“And the winner is, Ashley Crawford.” The gold around my neck brought a smile to my face, never going to leave it.
I really like the part where the winner hits the ribbon.
